After a couple weeks of settling in, I feel like we’re getting MORE done than before. My wife is a ( reluctant) homeschool guru who had already stocked up on summer learning stuff. Next week the schools formally start sending us materials, so we’ll be a little off the hook.
Non-academic stuff is through the roof. My 6-y-o daughter just mastered riding a bike and I jogged 3 miles with her yesterday (15 loops around a church...). My 9-y-o son magically picked up guitar and is already hooked on playing the opening riffs to Smoke on the Water . They have a 3/4 scale acoustic that they share.
I don’t think I could be prouder. I don’t miss all the extracu rricular activities at all anymore.

I hear you. Working from home, so at least I’ve still got that structure, but all the normal TV schedules have been shot to hell, and much as I’ m enjoying the daily How It’s Made marathons, I’ve lost all connection to what day it actually is.

Our online school is supposed to start on Monday, and I’m going to start teaching trumpet lessons online next week. When all my gigs got canceled, I found myself with a rather profound lack of motivation. Once my wife started working from home, she became our family motivator, in spite of her having to work. M 17yo son, who still doesn’t have his license, decided that he wanted to start working on his official 30 our checklist, so we’re doing that, and it’s actually a good time with fewer cars on the road. We’ve take some family rides and there is surprisingly little complaining. I think everybody is finding more time to unplug and get out, and that’s good.
